In remembrance of 9/11, the MacTalla Mor Band hosted a Celtic Music and Dance Festival on the upper lawn at Tarrywile Mansion. It was the first event of it’s kind that I have had the pleasure in helping to plan since I started working at the Mansion three years ago. In remembrance of 9-11 all proceeds from the sale that day of MacTalla Mor’s acclaimed album honoring the fallen Heroes of 911 “Jacob’s Ladder” were donated to the Uniformed Firefighters Association Widow’s and Children’s Fund. It couldn’t have been a better day all around, the weather was beautiful, the lawn lush and the park user’s relaxed.
I, unfortunately, had a family emergency that day and could not attend, much to my disappointment, so I made sure to check in with our house supervisor Zach, to ensure that everything was going smoothly. He described the event as fun and entertaining, the guitarist was extraordinary, the dancers unbelievable and the bagpipes energizing, he thoroughly enjoyed his afternoon at the park. I am sorry that I missed the opportunity to experience MacTalla Mor, especially since it was for such a good cause. Hopefully they will think of us again for next years remembrance.
