A Garden Wedding

Alicia and Richard started their wedding venue search at the beginning of April 2018. Normally when I give a one on one consultation I ask the couple how they met, a little back story to help me remember them when they decide to book Tarrywile Mansion as their wedding venue. Their story also gives me a little extra content when I write my after wedding blog post. I did not have that opportunity in this case, they were met by my event staff Zach, for a Saturday tour, so I asked the couple the day before their wedding to give me a little bio.

A Creative Couple

I was intrigued by what I read:

Rich and Alicia met at SUNY Purchase in 2010, and started dating in 2013. They share a love of video games, bad movies, creativity, comedy and good food and craft beers. They run a production company called Salt House Pictures, whose thriller Scopaestheia has been excepted into fifteen film festivals.

They supported each other through their bachelors and masters degrees; Alicia graduated from Sacred Heart University and Rich from the Yale School of Music. They live in Norwalk with their toothless cat Tilly, whom they love very much.

In my younger years I imagine I would have loved to go see their film on the big screen, at this age, not so much. I hope they continue to have success with all their creative endeavors.

Alicia looks lovely in her soft yellow wedding gown with garden flowers woven in her hair as she gets ready in the brides room. The garden theme was carried throughout the entire day, from the soft colors of the wedding party, to the floral arrangements, and to the individual succulents given away as guest gifts. The couple wanted to share their love of nature and the outdoors with all their guests.

Outdoor games were set up on the gazebo lawn just a few steps away from the tent located on the conservatory lawn.

Rich and Alicia wanted include the Mansion in their wedding day so they arranged for cocktail hour to be held on the veranda, high tops were brought in, and a secondary bar was set up to serve the guests during this time. The dining room was made available during cocktail hour if guests wanted to get out of the heat. The formal drawing room and library held tables for hors d’ oeuvres to encourage movement throughout of all the rooms in the mansion.  The reception took place under a tent on the conservatory lawn.
