There was no way to anticipate that July and August would see so many Saturdays with rain and humidity. The Saturday Katie and Matt were married was no exception. The day started out mostly sunny and humid, as the day progressed everyone was keeping an eye on the weather, the dark storm clouds were still in the distance so the ceremony under the grape arbor was a go.
The guests were seated, the ceremony commenced and the minister started his sermon as the dark storm clouds slowly moved in.
The catering staff held their breath, the house supervisor started to get nervous as the sounds of thunder drew closer. As the minister was winding down and the vows were exchanged, Katie and Matt were introduced as man and wife, then the heavens opened up sending everyone running for cover.
The rain did not last long enough to dampen the celebration. Their photographer Adam Garelick was able to capture some stunning photographs against the vibrant after the rain landscape. The art deco theme Katie was envisioning was reflected in the style of her wedding gown as well as the dresses of her bridesmaids as well as the carefully selected decorations that were strategically placed around the mansion.
Katie chose our 2 day rental package to ensure she had access to the Mansion the Friday before the wedding day. She and her helpers made use of the time decorating the mantels and entrance tables. The ladies were then invited to a tea party in the lounge (women only). Later in the evening everyone came back for the rehearsal before going out to dinner.
The couple had their cocktail hour on the veranda, guest dining in the mansion with dancing in the formal drawing room and DJ Anthony Gloria set up in the conservatory. It seems as though it might have been a rocky beginning, by the end of the night everyone was having a great time.
