To say 2020 is a total loss would not be entirely true. To be successful during a pandemic, according to Mr. Wonderful on Shark Tank, as well as many leading business analysts, companies have to learn to “pivot” their vision of where the company’s revenue stream will come from. For many in the wedding industry it’s no easy task, by definition “pivot” means to modify a policy/product while retaining some continuity with its previous version. (Dictionary.com)
Couples who had been planning their large weddings years in advance have had to change their “vision” or pivot, what they had planned to something much smaller with unanticipated restrictions. Julia and Greg decided to “seize the day” and manged to pull together a beautiful wedding celebration in just over twelve days!
Julia, Greg, with some help from Julia’s brother Mike, Bruce and his crew from approved caterer Victoria’s Wood Fired Catering and Tarrywile Mansions Event-Coordinator made a concerted effort to make their wedding day a reality. The end result? A beautiful, intimate wedding ceremony outdoors under our grape arbor on a sunny late October morning, followed by an indoor reception with 40 or so of their closest family and friends.
The State of Connecticut had just moved us into phase 3 of the reopening plan when Julia and Greg’s wedding took place. The guidelines allowed us to have up to 50% of our indoor occupancy which brings us to approximately 60 guests, with guest seating spaced appropriately to qualify as social distancing. Cocktail hour was on our covered veranda which diminished the risk of COVID-19 infection., face masks were required when moving about the mansion and hand sanitizer was placed for easy access.
To quote the bride on Facebook, “the vibe was super sweet and bright”, to me, you couldn’t ask for anything more.
