Holiday Observances
Around the world this time of year people are celebrating and remembering different events. There is Passover, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Songkan, Theravada and Easter just to name a few. If you don’t know some of these, look them up and take a moment to learn about them and what they mean to those celebrating them around the world. These events are a constant in our lives, they happen every year, will happen this year and will happen next year.
How we ultimately decide to recognize and yes, celebrate these events is easy. Reach out to your neighbors, friends and family near and far via phone, FaceTime, Skype, Messenger, Zoom, whatever you are familiar with. Let them know you are thinking about them. If you are missing your temple or church family, find out if they are doing a webcast of any of the upcoming events. If not, perhaps look for one on the web. The buildings may have empty pews and seats but they are still holding services. If you have an older neighbor or relative that may not know how to use the web, help them out and look up the local radio stations that carry services. It might just be the pickup they need.
For now I remind you to be kind to all you see, thanks to all the medical and emergency service workers that are facing so much, to our essential service people, the garbage men and women, the line workers, the janitorial staff, I really could go on and on. You are appreciated and thanks for all you do. My best to everyone during the upcoming days. Talk to you next week.
