Our Directors Thoughts on Spring
“In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.” – John Muir
With temperatures expected to be in the fifties the next few days, the last of the residual snow will be melting off and the daffodils will start to sprout from the ground if they haven’t already. Spring is my favorite season. Temperatures are warming up, the fields and forests are getting green once again and nature is reawakening from its winter slumber. It is a chance to open the windows in your house and let some fresh air in, to go for a bike ride and to just enjoy nature.
The Sounds of Nature
Even though I have three beautiful dogs, I occasionally go for walks through the woods without them or my husband for that matter. Why you ask, because there is a certain peace in walking through the woods and just stopping occasionally to let the beauty and serenity of nature surround you. It is those times, like John Muir stated above, that I receive more than I expected. To listen to a woodpecker making a new home or a Bluebird calling out. To see newborn fawns scamper after it’s mother or to see a Mallard mom swim with her babies. So remember to slow down, stop, quietly listen and observe, you might see and hear more than you expect.
Until next time remember; leave no trace, respect wildlife, leash your dog, leave what you find, respect fellow park users, always be prepared but most importantly enjoy all Tarrywile has to offer.
