A Thought Starter for this Month:
September: “The most wonderful time of the year”, kids go back to school, the days get cooler, football season begins and the leaf peepers make their annual trek to New England to view nature’s glorious colors on display. I watched a news segment on T.V. last week that reported some doctors are now prescribing a regiment of time spent in nature to combat anxiety and depression. Instead of relying solely on medication, add a hike to your daily routine, take a walk in the park or spend time outdoors with your family or favorite four-legged friend.
You might find you don’t need that trip to the drugstore after all. Whether you suffer from anxiety and depression or not, you have nothing to lose by spending some quality time enjoying nature – it’s the doctors orders!
September is always a popular month for weddings. Couples are looking forward to cooler weather for outdoor ceremonies with the first hints of Autumn colors as a backdrop for their wedding photos. It’s also one of the many reasons couples choose Tarrywile Mansion as the venue for their wedding day.
In the month of August we had two weekday weddings. David and Mary held their wedding reception at a local church in Monroe, then proceeded to their wedding reception at Tarrywile Mansion. There was Aryn and Christian, held on a Wednesday with approximately 100 guests in attendance.
The Danbury Housing Authority held it’s annual Employee Appreciation Day last month, which included a painting party taught by The Art Spot in Danbury.
On September 1st, Amy and Ashish celebrated their marriage with a reception at the Mansion. Stay tuned to our Wedding Blog for all the latest news on our Mansion weddings, events and fundraisers.
Saturday, September 28th the Candlewood Valley Regional Landtrust is hosting their Sunset Soiree Fundraiser in the Red Barn Area from 6:00 pm – 9:30 pm.
September brings cooler weather, the beginning of school, pumpkin spice products and apple cider. At Tarrywile the leaves will start to fall and colors will abound abound across the fields and forests that we have all come to love so much. Take a quiet hike and enjoy.
Coming up the first Friday of November is our Harvest Dinner and Silent Auction. Tickets will go on sale Friday, September 13th, details to follow on our website under Mansion Events. We are looking for items for the auction, consider donating today. In the past we have had wine, artwork, gift certificates to local businesses, baskets of goods and handmade furniture just to name a few items.
Until next time remember; leave no trace, respect wildlife, leash your dog, leave what you find, respect fellow park users, always be prepared, stay cool but most importantly, enjoy all Tarrywle has to offer.
